A few years ago now, my younger daughter thought it would be fun to start having a theme for our Christmas celebrations. We started off with colour themes, red one year, purple another. Then we moved on to more ambitious themes requiring a whole lot more planning!
Christmas 2014 is shown in the photo above – a Griswald Family Christmas straight out of National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation” starring Chevy Chase. We had so much fun organising our costumes and even acting out some of our favourite scenes – even the infamous scene where Cousin Eddy declares, “Shitter’s full…” while pumping effluent into the storm drain… Our horse truck made the perfect full-sized prop!

Christmas 2015 was a “Handmade Christmas” with clothing and gifts all needing to be handmade is some form or another. Everyone did a great job with whatever crafting skills they had!

This year our theme is “Spooky Christmas”. The youngest daughter has her Christmas tree set up with a giant purple spider, instead of a star, on the top (a leftover from Halloween). It will be very interesting to see what everyone comes up with for a costume to fit the theme. I’m sure it will be a good topic for another blog post on Boxing Day… lol
