It feels like there is something heavy on your chest, something that distracts your piece of mind. There is no other feeling like that – what could I have done differently? Was it all my fault? What if I never met those people? Memories. Pleasant ones turned into ones you want to forget. Forever. Whenever……
Did you know older Australian’s are part of a strong, growing movement who are using technology to enhance their lives? Here’s how and why…
Forget age old stereotypes, the numbers are showing those of us with a few years of experience under our belts are embracing new technology like never before. In fact, there is such a strong movement that it has been given a name …. ‘Grantech’. Only YOU can create your own life!! Yes that’s true. There is no one who can write the way you have to live your life except for you. You have to create your own opportunities, you own LUCK. YOU, yes..YOU!! Life isn’t about the opportunities that are handed to us, it is about creating the […]
Well, I do believe I’m done with any shopping I’m gonna do. Hope our adult kids enjoy their stocking stuff. I’m thinking about baking some cookies on Wednesday to take round to some neighbors with an invite to the Christmas Eve services at our church. It will be a wonderful mix of fun and wonder […]
Everything and all experiences have their starting point in imagination. The computer you are staring at was at one point an image in someone’s mind. The building you are sitting in was first created in someone’s imagination. The contract you just wrote for your client began in your imagination. The fight you had with your boss or partner, you […]
A few years ago now, my younger daughter thought it would be fun to start having a theme for our Christmas celebrations. We started off with colour themes, red one year, purple another. Then we moved on to more ambitious themes requiring a whole lot more planning!
Christmas 2014 is shown in the photo above – a Griswald Family Christmas straight out of National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation” starring Chevy Chase. We had so much fun organising our costumes and even acting out some of our favourite scenes – even the infamous scene where Cousin Eddy declares, “Shitter’s full…” while pumping effluent into the storm drain… Our horse truck made the perfect full-sized prop!
Christmas 2015 was a “Handmade Christmas” with clothing and gifts all needing to be handmade is some form or another. Everyone did a great job with whatever crafting skills they had!
This year our theme is “Spooky Christmas”. The youngest daughter has her Christmas tree set up with a giant purple spider, instead of a star, on the top (a leftover from Halloween). It will be very interesting to see what everyone comes up with for a costume to fit the theme. I’m sure it will be a good topic for another blog post on Boxing Day… lol
A boatload of research offers practical advice you can use to start being happier today. Science has landed a probe on a comet hurtling through space, wiped smallpox from the face of the earth, and split the atom. Surely research can come up with a few ways to make humans happier. Thanks to the advent of the relatively new field of positive psychology, science has been doing just that for the last decade or so. Researchers are churning out studies on the underpinnings of human flourishing, pinpointing what makes people truly happy, and offering actionable suggestions to help people become the best, most joyful versions of themselves. Here are few of the field’s recent discoveries on how to be happy. 1. Exercise. Study after study has shown that people who exercise lead happier, more fulfilled lives. Sources: Winthrop University, University of Colorado Boulder 2. Find your sleep routine. People who sleep through the night and who experience high quality sleep are less irritable
